I am delighted that Declan Lawn will be joining me in Ballymena to talk about ‘John Hume : The Persuader’. We will discuss John Hume’s life and legacy at The Braid Theatre on Wednesday 6 December at 7.30 pm.

Declan and I are friends and former BBC reporters. We are also both from Ballymena, so this promises to be very special night. We were both brought up in the town, went to school there and have many friends there. We are thrilled to be talking in front of a ‘ hometown’ audience.

We both joined the BBC and worked together as documentary makers for the BBC NI current affairs programme ‘ Spotlight’.

Declan is now a very successful screenwriter. His first feature film was Rogue Agent and he wrote The Salisbury Poisonings and of course the very successful BBC Drama Blue Lights.
